Wind Energy

The Berea, Ohio wind turbine is up and running.

During April 2012 the refurbished German wind turbine was assembled and made operational at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds. The purpose of the wind turbine is to reduce the electric bill for the city by about $50 thousand each year and to gain public acceptance.

Cuyahoga County, where the city of Berea is located, received $1 million from the Federal Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 to purchase the German wind turbine. The county  received a $400 thousand grant from the DOE for the wind turbine. The county applied for a $200 thousand grant from the state of Ohio to help complete the project.

As taxpayers we have invested $1.6 million for a German wind turbine to save the city of Berea, OH $50,000 each year. Where are the “Green Jobs?”
